GF-N W profile: twin Ø 28 mm pipe for long cross members and loaded shelves
Two Ø 28 mm pipes joined into a single 65 mm high profile. Mounted upright it has about 10 times the bending resistance of the GF-N pipe: it is the right cross member for loaded worktops, shelving with long spans and trolley bases. It weighs 0.79 kg/m and connects with its dedicated outer connector.
Why choose it
Ten pipes in one
Upright it has about 10 times the bending resistance of the standard pipe, for little more than twice the weight.
Longer spans
Over a 1000 mm span it takes about 1950 N at mid-span with 5 mm of deflection: loaded shelves without intermediate supports.
Dedicated connector
The W outer connector holds 1000 N against slipping and 50 N·m vertically.
Stays within the 28 system
The two pipes accept 28 series end caps and GF-N inner connectors.
Choose it if…
- The cross member is long or has to carry a loaded shelf.
- You want to avoid intermediate uprights or supports.
- You are building trolley bases, workbenches or shelving for high loads while staying within the Ø 28 system.
Choose another solution if…
- Light reinforcement is enough, without changing footprint: Reinforced GF-N T profile →
- You need even sturdier cross members, in the Ø 43 series: GF-G W profile →
- The cross member is short and lightly loaded: GF-N profile →

Application example
The W is used as a cross member where a single pipe would bend too much:
- Loaded worktops on workbenches and workstations
- Shelving levels with long spans
- Trolley bases for heavy loads
How it connects
Always mount it upright, with one pipe above the other: flat it gives only twice a single pipe.
Upright or flat
Orientation changes everything:
Upright
One pipe above the other: over a 1000 mm span it takes about 1950 N at mid-span with 5 mm of deflection.
Flat
The two pipes side by side: over 1000 mm it takes 388 N at mid-span, about twice a single pipe.
Joints
At maximum load each end transfers about 1000 N: use the W outer connector, which holds 1000 N against slipping.
With loads like these the weak points become the joints and feet: we carry out the full structural check.
The LeanProducts service
From drawing to finished structure, with a single point of contact:
Design and load calculation
We start from your sketch or dimensions: we choose profiles and connectors and check spans, joints and loads.
Cut to length
We cut the profiles in our workshop to the lengths in the design, ready to assemble.
Kit or assembled structure
You receive the kit with the cut parts and the list of components, or the structure already assembled.
Spare parts and modifications
When the process changes we supply components and new cuts to modify or extend the structure.
Send us a sketch, a photo or the overall dimensions: we will reply with codes, quantities and cut lengths.

Upright, with one pipe above the other. This way it has about 10 times the bending resistance of the GF-N pipe: over a 1000 mm span it takes about 1950 N at mid-span with 5 mm of deflection. Flat it takes 388 N, only twice a single pipe.
The dedicated outer connector GFJ-D28: it joins the W at 90° and holds 1000 N against slipping, 450 N against pull-out and 50 N·m vertically. GF-N inner connectors also fit the W.
It depends on span, number of cross members, joints and feet. With the W the cross member is rarely the weak point: joints and supports matter more. Send us dimensions and load and we will calculate the load capacity of the structure.
The T is a single Ø 28 pipe about 1.5 times stiffer than the standard pipe: you use it when you do not want to change footprint. The W is 65 mm high but upright it is about 10 times stiffer: it is the choice for long cross members and loaded shelves.
When the uprights are doing most of the work, or you need sturdier joints and feet: the GF-G Ø 43 series has 1700–2500 N connectors and the 5800 N M16 threaded insert. You can also combine GF-G uprights and GF-N cross members with the mixed connectors.
With 28 series inner end caps on each pipe: aluminium, expanding, rounded or ESD.
The standard GF-N profile is suitable for most uprights and cross members. If a cross member is long or loaded use the GF-N W fitted upright (about 10 times stiffer), or the T (about 1.5 times) or the Hard (about 1.7 times, also for joints that take impacts), which have the same diameter. To fix plate castors, panels or rollers with T-nuts choose the profile with C10 slot; F35 and F50 have a flat flange for labels, small parts holders and supports. The sliding profile has a smooth surface for sliding parts and boxes, the round roller profile becomes a roller with the pin connectors, LS and LS with S slot carry a linear slide and the linear guide profile is the track for the linear rollers.
The GF-N Ø 28 is the standard for workstations, flow racks and trolleys. The GF-S Ø 19 weighs about half as much (0.20 kg/m versus 0.37) and is for light frames, dividers, guards and small mechanisms. The GF-G Ø 43 is for uprights and cross members that have to carry a lot: over a 1000 mm span it supports 851 N at the centre versus 195 N for the GF-N, for the same deflection. It is often worth mixing them, for example GF-G uprights and GF-N cross members joined by mixed connectors.
Yes. Green Frame profiles can be ordered as 4000 mm bars or cut to the length you need: we do the cutting ourselves, in our workshop. Give us the dimensions of the pieces or send us a sketch of the structure and we will prepare the cutting list.
Yes. The standard series is GF-N (Ø 28 mm pipe); GF-S (Ø 19 mm) is lighter and more compact, GF-G (Ø 43 mm) is for stiffer structures. There are mixed connectors that join pipes from different series, for example a Ø 19 or Ø 43 pipe to a Ø 28 pipe, so you use the right diameter at every point of the structure.
No. The connectors are fixed to the pipe with hex socket screws: a hex key is all you need. Loosen the screw, insert the pipe, bring it into position and tighten. No welding, drilling or painting.
Yes, it is the strength of the pipe system: loosen the connectors, move or replace the pipes and retighten. You can raise a shelf, extend a workbench or reuse the components in another structure when the process changes, with continuous improvement in mind.
Yes. We can design the structure (workstation, flow rack, trolley, line-side supermarket) with the load calculation and deliver it to you assembled or as a kit with the parts already cut and the list of components.
No. Profiles and connectors are in anodised aluminium: the surface resists corrosion and wear without painting and is easy to clean.
Yes. The range includes conductive components such as ESD inner end caps, ESD clips for electrical continuity between pipe and connector, and ESD inserts for levelling feet and castors. Tell us which EPA area you work in and we will tell you the components to use.
