Each bay carries 1000 kg and lifts the cart in under 3 seconds; you load and unload from both sides. With 3 LiftLiners the train is 9.6 m long, makes a U-turn in 4.5 m and runs at up to 8 km/h.
Lean Logistic · Tugger train
LiftLiner®: the milk run tugger train that lifts and transports trolleys without a forklift
The LiftLiner® is the patented K.Hartwall tugger train trailer: you hitch it to the electric tractor and take up to 8 trolleys carrying pallets, cages, KLT containers or shelves to the line in a single run. You load and unload from both sides, the trolley is lifted off the ground in less than 3 seconds and tilts towards the operator when unloading: no forklifts in the department, no manual lifting.

Why choose it
Load and unload from both sides
You push the trolley into the bay from the right or the left and unload it on whichever side you need: you do not have to load the train in delivery order or turn round to serve a workstation.
No manual lifting
Push the trolley into the bay, the LiftLiner locks it and lifts it off the ground; when unloading it lowers, tilts towards you and the trolley rolls out by itself. Up to 1000 kg per bay.
Short train, tight curves
The cross-bar coupling, the scissor system, keeps the train on track: with 3 LiftLiners the train is 9.6 m long and makes a U-turn in 4.5 m. More space for production, less walking.
Safe for the user
If a trolley is not locked the train will not start, you cannot walk between the bays, and a mechanical click and green LED confirm the locking. Electric, with minimal maintenance.
Choose it if…
- You supply your lines with a milk run and want to get forklifts out of the departments.
- You carry 1200 × 800 or 1200 × 1000 pallets, cages, KLT containers or kits, up to 1000 kg per trolley.
- You want to unload only the trolley you need, at any point on the route, without sequencing the load.
- You have narrow aisles and curves: you need a short train that stays on track.
- You are thinking of automating: the LiftLiner also works with AGV tractors.
Choose another solution if…
- All you need is to hitch the dollies and pallet dollies you already have to the tractor, in a line: Milkrun Drawbar Assembly →
- You mainly transport dollies with 600 × 400 containers to be loaded from both sides: Taxi Liner 3 Bay for Dolly 600x400 →
- You need a pallet on castors to push by hand or tow with the drawbar: Dolly Pallet →
- You need a shelf trolley to tow in a dolly train: Dolly Taxi →

Tugger train and milk run: what they are
A tugger train is an electric tractor that tows several trolleys along a set route. In the lean milk run, the train does a round at regular intervals, like the milkman: it delivers material to the drop-off points, collects empties and kanban cards and returns to the warehouse. What you gain:
- Fewer forklifts in the department: a single operator makes several deliveries in one round, with less traffic and lower risk
- Lower line-side stock: small, frequent deliveries, at the pace of consumption
- Less transport and waiting waste: standard routes, repeatable times, no empty trips
- Ergonomics: with the LiftLiner the load is not lifted by hand, the trolley lifts and unloads itself
- Where it is used: manufacturing and automotive, warehouses, retail and e-commerce, parcels and post, DIY
The LiftLiner adds side loading and unloading of trolleys to the milk run: it is the basis for a forklift-free plant.
How it works: loading, travel, unloading
Load
Push the trolley into the bay from either side, up a ramp of just 3°: the roof shape guides it into the right position. The click of the anti-return and the LED changing from flashing to green tell you it is locked.
View product →Travel
In less than 3 seconds the LiftLiner lifts the trolley by 60 mm and carries it on its own 200 mm polyurethane wheels. If a lock is not in position, the Immobilizer function prevents the train from starting.
Unloading
At the drop-off point you activate unloading while standing in a natural posture, with your feet away from the LiftLiner: the lock lowers, the bay tilts towards you and the trolley rolls out, with its castors turning in the exit direction.
Each LiftLiner is a pair of bays and carries two trolleys, one per bay. The train can have up to 4 LiftLiners, i.e. 8 trolleys. The unloading tilt can be disabled via software.
Reduced manoeuvring space
U-turn
With 3 LiftLiners the train makes a U-turn in a 4.5 m wide aisle: no manoeuvring yards needed.
90° curve
The scissor coupling makes each LiftLiner follow the track of the one in front: the train does not cut the corner into racks and workstations.
Lane change
Even on S-bends the train stays in its lane; the set-back wheel improves tracking even at higher speeds.
Actual aisles, curves and intersections depend on the tractor, the number of LiftLiners and the load: we check them with you on the layout.

Safety and ergonomics
The LiftLiner is designed for people who load and unload dozens of trolleys per shift:
Train stays put if the trolley is not locked
The Immobilizer function holds the train until all locks are in the vertical position.
No passage between bays
The coupling between LiftLiners prevents anyone from walking through the train between one trolley and the next.
Natural posture
The load tilts towards the operator and the loading ramp is just 3°; the trolleys have rounded corners that reduce the risk of impact.
Visual and audible confirmation
The click of the mechanical anti-return and the green LED confirm that the trolley is locked.
Nobody lifts or pulls loads of up to 1000 kg by hand: the LiftLiner does the heavy work.
Tractors, AGVs and routes
The LiftLiner hitches to the vehicles you already use and grows with your milk run:
Standard tractors
It is compatible with standard electric tractors: no dedicated vehicle is needed.
AGV tractors
It also works with automated guided tractors and communicates with the AGV at safety level PLd: the train travels to the stations by itself and stops at the unloading points.
Gradients and ground clearance
Maximum gradient of 10% and ground clearance of 60 mm, which can be reduced to 40 mm.
Dollies at the rear
With the dedicated rear coupling you can hitch dollies behind the last LiftLiner.
We check the tractor make and model before quoting.

A tugger train is an electric tractor that tows several trolleys or trailers along a set route. In the milk run, one of the basic methods of lean logistics, the train does a round at regular intervals, like the milkman: it delivers materials to the points of use, collects empty containers and kanban cards and returns to the warehouse. Compared with individual forklift trips, you reduce traffic, waiting and line-side stock. With the LiftLiner you transport trolleys of up to 1000 kg and load and unload them without lifting; with the Milkrun Drawbar Assembly you hitch dollies and pallet dollies to the tractor.
Each LiftLiner has two loading bays. You push the trolley into the bay, from the right or the left, up a ramp of just 3°: the roof shape guides it into position, and the mechanical click and green LED confirm the locking. In less than 3 seconds the LiftLiner lifts the trolley off the ground, up to 1000 kg, and the train can set off. When unloading, the bay lowers and tilts towards the operator: the trolley rolls out by itself, with its castors turning in the exit direction. Nobody lifts the load by hand.
LL Trolleys in the sizes 600 × 800, 1200 × 800 and 1200 × 1000 mm, for pallets, cages and containers, and the three-shelf LL Taxi Trolley. You can mix sizes and types in the same train without losing capacity: each bay carries one trolley of up to 1000 kg. For 600 × 800 trolleys and non-standard trolleys there is an adapter and an extended scissor drawbar: we assess them with you during the analysis phase.
A LiftLiner is a pair of bays and carries 2 trolleys. The train can have up to 4 LiftLiners, i.e. 8 trolleys. With 3 LiftLiners the train is 9.6 m long, excluding the tractor, and travels at up to 8 km/h; with 4 LiftLiners up to 6 km/h. We calculate how many you need from your flows: trips per hour, drop-off points, distances and loads.
The LiftLiner is compatible with standard electric tractors: you can often use the one you already have, and we check its make and model before quoting. It also works with automated guided tractors (AGVs) and communicates with the AGV at safety level PLd: the train can travel to the stations by itself and stop at the unloading points. It is a ready basis if you are thinking of automating the milk run at a later stage.
Very little. The cross-bar coupling, the scissor system, makes each LiftLiner follow the track of the one in front, and the set-back wheel improves tracking even at higher speeds. With 3 LiftLiners a U-turn requires a 4.5 m wide aisle; each LiftLiner is 1000 mm wide. We check the aisles, curves and intersections of your route with you during the analysis phase.
No. Each trolley can be loaded and unloaded from both sides and from any bay: you load the train as it comes and unload only the trolley you need, at any point on the route. No sequencing and no U-turns to serve a workstation from the right side: the route stays as short as possible.
It is designed for that. If a lock is not in position, the Immobilizer function prevents the train from starting. The coupling between LiftLiners prevents anyone from walking between one trolley and the next. When unloading, the operator stays in a natural posture, with their feet away from the LiftLiner, and the load tilts towards them; the trolleys have rounded corners. Above all, nobody lifts or pulls loads of up to 1000 kg by hand.
The LiftLiner handles gradients of up to 10% and has a ground clearance of 60 mm, which can be reduced to 40 mm. The wheels are 200 mm polyurethane, with suspension. Actual speeds and gradients depend on the tractor, load and floor: we check them on your route.
It depends on distances, frequencies and loads. A train with a single operator makes several deliveries in one round and can take the place of 3–6 forklift trucks with their drivers. We do the calculation for your case with you during the analysis phase, starting from the trips you make today.
Yes, in two ways. With the Milkrun Drawbar Assembly you hitch one or two rows of 600 × 400 dollies, one row of 800 × 600 dollies, or Dolly Pallets and Dolly Taxis directly to the tractor. With the LiftLiner, on the other hand, the LL trolleys travel in the bays and dollies can be hitched at the rear with the dedicated rear coupling. We help you choose the right combination for your route.
Very little: the LiftLiner is fully electric, has a sturdy construction and is designed for minimal maintenance. Wheels and wearing parts are replaced with original K.Hartwall spare parts, which we supply.
We start from your flows: what you carry, where, how often and in which containers. We design the route and drop-off points with you, choose trolleys, dollies and accessories and size the train: how many LiftLiners, how many trolleys, which tractor. Then we deliver, commission and show operators how to load, hitch and unload safely. Spare parts and support stay with us.
