AL Modular System · C10 profiles
Aluminium strut profile 90x180 – heavy cross member with 10 mm slot
The 90x180 is a heavy C10 slot profile with four slots on each long side and two on each short side. Mounted upright it has Ix = 2138.3 cm⁴ and, with It = 429 cm⁴, it also resists torsion very well: you use it for gantry cross members, machine and plant bases, and as the supporting profile for LF20 roller guides. You receive it as a full bar or cut to length in our workshop.
Why choose it
Stiff when upright
Ix = 2138.3 cm⁴ and Wx = 237.6 cm³ with the 180 mm side vertical: minimal deflection over long spans.
Twelve slots
Four slots per long side and two per short side: room for guides, brackets and panels.
High-capacity slot
Static slot limit: 18000 N with T-nut, 24000 N with sliding block.
Bar or cut to length
6070 mm bar or pieces cut from 50 mm upwards, with the cutting list.
Choose it if…
- You need a long, very rigid cross member.
- You are building gantries, machine bases or heavy plant.
- You are mounting an LF20 roller guide.
- You want many slots for fixing guides, brackets and accessories.
Choose another solution if…
- You need a lighter version: Aluminium strut profile 90x180L →
- You need a square post: Aluminium strut profile 90x90 →
- You need an even taller cross member: Aluminium strut profile 90x360

The LeanProducts service
From the bill of materials to ready-to-assemble parts, with a single point of contact:
Cutting to length
We cut the profiles in our workshop to the lengths on your parts list: full bar or cut to length.
Check of codes and quantities
We start from the parts list or a sketch: we check profiles, brackets, connectors, nuts and cover caps for every joint.
Ready-to-assemble kits
You receive cut profiles and accessories grouped by structure, with the component list.
Spare parts
When you modify or extend the structure we supply the same original components.
Send us the parts list or a photo of the structure: we reply with codes and quantities.

Upright, with the 180 mm side vertical: that way it works with Ix = 2138.3 cm⁴. Laid flat it drops to Iy = 544.3 cm⁴, which is still more than the 90x90: even flat it remains a very rigid base.
The quick connector cannot be used in the 90x180. For high static and dynamic forces there is the load connector 180x180 Dynamic Load; for other joints we suggest connectors and brackets based on the loads.
Yes, it is the supporting profile for LF20S and LF20C roller guides, with or without drive. For a complete guide send us the configuration: we will check the components together.
The 90x180L is the lightweight version: 11.6 kg/m and Ix = 1380.0 cm⁴, versus 17.2 kg/m and 2138.3 cm⁴ for the 90x180. Choose the 90x180 for the highest loads and longest spans, the 90x180L when you want to keep weight down.
Two 90x90 cover caps side by side, in signal grey PP or black ESD. They are also available with a hole, if a screw passes through the end.
When the cross member is long or heavily loaded: the 90x180 mounted upright has Ix = 2138.3 cm⁴, more than seven times the 90x90, at 17.2 kg/m. The 90x90 remains the choice for posts loaded from several sides.
The static slot limit, with the largest thread, is 18000 N with the T-nut and 24000 N with the sliding block, as on the 90x90. Apply your own safety factors and for critical joints send us the drawing and loads.
It is the width of the profile slot and determines which accessories you use. Slot C6 (6 mm) is for 20 series profiles, C8 (8 mm) for the 30 series, C10 (10 mm) for profiles from the 40 series upwards. Nuts, screws, brackets and cover caps are chosen by slot: each accessory's product page shows the right one.
Yes. You can order the full bar or the piece cut to the length you need: we do the cutting ourselves, in our workshop. Each profile's product page shows the maximum bar length and the minimum cut length.
Look at the moments of inertia Ix and Iy: the higher they are, the less the profile deflects under load. For the same section, “L” profiles are lightened and deflect a little more. For long spans or high loads move to a larger section or a tall profile (e.g. 45x90 instead of 45x45). If you send us drawing and loads, we will check the choice.
The T-nut is inserted from the front into the slot, even in an assembled structure, and positions itself when you tighten the screw: it is the standard choice for fixing accessories. The sliding block withstands higher forces, but normally has to be inserted from the profile end before closing the frame; spring versions stay where you put them.
The simplest way is the bracket, which joins two profiles at 90° with screws and nuts in the slot, without machining. For end, T, 45° or three-way connections there are dedicated connectors, some of which require profile machining as stated on their product page.
Yes, for several accessories (for example cover caps, hinges and nuts) there are conductive ESD versions, indicated in the name or variant. Tell us which EPA area you work in and we will confirm the components to use.
On each product page you will find the MGE catalogue pages to download as PDF, with dimensioned drawings and technical data; the Specifications tab shows the data for the variant you have chosen.
Yes. Send us the parts list or a sketch with dimensions: we give you codes, quantities and cut lengths and prepare the kit with profiles already cut and the accessories.
