Aluminium strut profile 30x60 – slotted crossbar with 8 mm slot

The 30x60 is the crossbar of the 8 mm slot series. Upright it has a moment of inertia of 19.6 cm⁴, seven times that of the 30x30, and connects to the same uprights with the 2500 N bracket 30x60. Six slots, central bores for M8 thread, 1.5 kg/m: use it for crossbars of trolleys, benches, support frames and light machine frames.

Why choose it

Longer crossbars

Upright it is seven times stiffer than the 30x30: longer spans without intermediate supports.

2500 N joint

The bracket 30x60 is fixed with four M6 screws at 10 N·m and holds twice as much as the 30x30.

Six slots

Two on each long side and one on each short side, for panels, brackets and accessories.

Long bar or cut to length

2000 mm piece, 6070 mm bar or cuts to length from 50 mm.

Three practical rules for the 30x60:

60 is twice 30: the 30x60 sits alongside and crosses 30x30 profiles without shims.

With the 60 mm side vertical: Ix = 19.6 cm⁴ compared with 5.1 cm⁴ flat. For the same load and span an upright crossbar deflects almost four times less.

When the structure carries medium loads, such as trolleys and support frames: the 30x60 upright has Ix 19.6 cm⁴, uses the 8 mm slot and 2500 N brackets.

The bracket 30x60 for 8 mm slot: four M6x14 screws with nut, tightening torque 10 N·m, holds 2500 N. Available with or without small parts, and the cover cap for bracket 30x60 fits on top.

When the cross member is long or loaded: the 30x90 weighs 2.1 kg/m versus 1.5 kg/m, but mounted upright it has Ix = 60.7 cm⁴ versus 19.6 cm⁴. For even longer spans, move up to the 30x120.

The 30x90 is for even longer spans: Ix 60.7 cm⁴, about three times the 30x60, at 2.1 kg/m instead of 1.5. If the 30x60 is enough, you keep a lighter profile that is easier to connect.

The 30x60 is rigid mainly in one direction (Ix 19.6 cm⁴, Iy 5.1 cm⁴). The 30x60x60 has 26.2 cm⁴ in both directions and resists torsion much better: it is the choice for corner posts loaded from several sides.

Yes: the central bores take an M8 thread. With a thread at both ends the piece must be at least 80 mm long. Specify the machining in the parts list: we will confirm how to order it.

It is the width of the profile slot and determines which accessories you use. Slot C6 (6 mm) is for 20 series profiles, C8 (8 mm) for the 30 series, C10 (10 mm) for profiles from the 40 series upwards. Nuts, screws, brackets and cover caps are chosen by slot: each accessory's product page shows the right one.

Yes. You can order the full bar or the piece cut to the length you need: we do the cutting ourselves, in our workshop. Each profile's product page shows the maximum bar length and the minimum cut length.

Look at the moments of inertia Ix and Iy: the higher they are, the less the profile deflects under load. For the same section, “L” profiles are lightened and deflect a little more. For long spans or high loads move to a larger section or a tall profile (e.g. 45x90 instead of 45x45). If you send us drawing and loads, we will check the choice.

The T-nut is inserted from the front into the slot, even in an assembled structure, and positions itself when you tighten the screw: it is the standard choice for fixing accessories. The sliding block withstands higher forces, but normally has to be inserted from the profile end before closing the frame; spring versions stay where you put them.

The simplest way is the bracket, which joins two profiles at 90° with screws and nuts in the slot, without machining. For end, T, 45° or three-way connections there are dedicated connectors, some of which require profile machining as stated on their product page.
