PUDU · Industrial quadruped robot
PUDU D5: industrial quadruped robot for inspection and patrolling, outdoors too
PUDU’s quadruped robot for industry: it climbs steps and slopes, walks on gravel and sand, works in rain and dust (IP67) from −20 to +55 °C and completes inspection and patrol missions on its own. Two versions: D5 with legs and D5‑W with wheels on its legs. Launched in December 2025, it is available to order on request: LeanProducts, official PUDU distributor in Italy, assesses feasibility with you and sets up the pilot project.
Why choose it
Where wheels cannot go
The legged D5 climbs steps up to 30 cm and tackles uneven ground, gravel and sand; the D5‑W runs on wheels and switches to legs when it meets stairs.
Outdoors, all year round
IP67 protection rating, working temperature from −20 to +55 °C and cold start even below −10 °C.
360° perception
Two 3D LiDARs and four fisheye cameras, with 275 TOPS of on-board computing: real-time 3D map, object recognition and prediction of moving obstacles.
Controlled in a natural way
Voice, over 10 gestures and remote control; it follows you on its own and with RCOS remote control you see the panoramic video from its cameras live.
Choose it if…
- You need to inspect or patrol areas with stairs, ramps, gravel or uneven ground, inside and outside buildings.
- You work outdoors in rain, dust, cold or heat: energy and chemical plants, substations, industrial campuses.
- You need a mobile platform that carries 20–30 kg of instruments or materials and accepts additional modules.
- You want to start with a pilot project on a specific use case, with the distributor’s support.
Choose another solution if…
- You need to transport materials on flat indoor floors, up to 300 kg: Pudu T300 →
- Loads reach 600 kg: Pudu T600 →
- You need arms to pick up and move objects: Pudu D7 →
Where it is used
The D5 is designed for industrial and outdoor environments where mobility and ruggedness are needed:
- Industrial inspection: scheduled rounds in energy and chemical plants, electrical substations, tunnels and mines
- Patrolling and perimeter security: industrial campuses, car parks and multi-level sites, large outdoor areas
- Last-leg logistics: equipment and parcels from the vehicle to the building, including over steps and ramps
- Large infrastructures: airports and metros
- Research and development: platform with SDK for laboratories and development projects
At the 2026 trade fairs the D5 showed simulated inspections of electrical substations and industrial parks, with thermal camera, instrument reading and gas detection: these were demonstrations, not documented installations. For your case we assess together what can be done today.

How it works in the field
Autonomous missions, from departure to return to charge:
Maps up to 1,000,000 m²
Autonomous navigation as standard with real-time SLAM and 3D reconstruction; you create and edit maps with the PUDU tools and define the routes.
Complete missions
It sets off, follows the patrol route, handles obstacles and returns to charge. Up to 14 km on one charge.
Missions from the cloud
Missions can also be sent from the cloud; with RCOS you check status and panoramic video live.
Anti-theft
Alarm, battery lock and GPS tracking: useful when patrolling large, lightly staffed areas.
The D5 can also follow a person on its own, for example a technician who needs to carry instruments and materials.
Software and AI: PUDU’s “One Brain, Multiple Embodiments” vision
PUDU is developing a single intelligence for robots of different shapes. It is a development direction, not a function you can activate on the D5 today:
PuduAgent OS
The system layer that connects AI models, skills and robots, with memory and safety safeguards.
PuduFM
The embodied AI foundation model presented by PUDU in 2026, designed to transfer a skill learned by one robot to other robots and other environments.
What is available today: the D5 SDK
The D5 comes with an SDK, developer documentation and integration support, including for development and customisation. We request versions and licensing from PUDU for your project.
A single PUDU ecosystem, from cleaning to delivery and logistics through to embodied AI robots: one supplier and one point of contact in Italy. The PUDU Open Platform (Cloud API) currently covers delivery, cleaning and logistics robots, not the D5.

Yes, on request for a quote: PUDU launched it in December 2025 and sells it as an industrial platform, not just for research. We confirm delivery times, availability, version and conditions for Italy with PUDU.
The D5, legs only, is the choice for difficult terrain and narrow steps: it climbs steps up to 30 cm and has 2–2.5 hours of runtime. The D5‑W has wheels at the ends of its legs: it goes further on fairly even ground, with 2–3 hours of runtime, and switches to legs to climb stairs (steps up to 25 cm). Dimensions, battery and payload are the same.
The battery is 1000 Wh, with 2–2.5 hours of runtime for the D5 and 2–3 hours for the D5‑W, and up to 14 km on one charge. These are laboratory figures: actual runtime depends on load, terrain and temperature. The battery is replaceable: with a spare one the robot sets off again immediately. The automatic charging station, sold separately, charges the robot and also the spare battery, for unattended operation.
20–30 kg while walking continuously, for both versions. PUDU accessories include a delivery box, for up to 30 kg and items up to 50 × 29 × 40 cm, and an inspection kit, and the architecture is open to other modules. The D5 can also follow a person on its own, for example a technician who needs to carry tools and materials.
By voice, thanks to six microphones with AI noise reduction that work even in noisy environments; with more than 10 gestures (start, stop, recall, follow); with the remote control; with missions sent from the cloud. With the RCOS remote control system you see the robot’s status and the panoramic video from its cameras live.
Yes. With standard autonomous navigation (real-time SLAM, 3D reconstruction, object recognition and prediction of moving obstacles) it carries out complete missions: it sets off, follows the route, handles obstacles and returns to charge. Maps can cover up to 1,000,000 m² and are created and edited with PUDU tools.
Yes: alarm, battery lock and GPS location tracking. It is especially useful when patrolling large, sparsely staffed outdoor areas.
The D5 has an SDK, developer documentation and integration support, with scope for development and customisation. We ask PUDU about versions, languages and licence for your project. The PUDU Open Platform (Cloud API), used for cleaning, delivery and logistics robots, does not currently include the D5.
We start with a feasibility assessment: route, terrain, steps, weather and what the robot needs to detect or carry. If the case is suitable, we define a pilot project with clear objectives and measures together with you and PUDU, and we handle commissioning, mapping and training.
LeanProducts provides direct support throughout Italy through its own technicians. Types of support offered:
- phone support and remote access for questions or analysis;
- on-site repair or, preferably, shipment to our premises;
- specific training so you can work independently.
Cameras and sensors are used for orientation and obstacle avoidance. PUDU is certified ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 for information security and privacy. We provide the privacy documentation for the model with the quote; if data must stay on your premises, we assess PUDU Cloud Veil with you.
Yes. With PUDU Cloud Veil the data runs locally or on your private cloud and does not pass through PUDU servers: no data leakage at source and full control over the information, as required in environments with high confidentiality requirements. To connect the robot to your systems there is the PUDU Cloud Open API. We define the configuration and functions available for your model in the quote.
PUDU is certified ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for information security and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 for privacy, verified by the certification body DNV. Data is encrypted and stored encrypted, access is limited to authorised personnel and a dedicated department oversees information security. Vulnerabilities are reported through an official channel. On the robot, settings and working modes are password-protected and the software is updated remotely.
Yes, every robot comes with CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity, which we hand over with the robot together with the standards applied.
