Aluminium strut profile 20x20 – slotted profile with 6 mm slot
The 20x20 is the basic profile of the 6 mm slot series in the Bosch Rexroth modular aluminium system: one slot per side, Ø 5.5 mm central bore and only 0.4 kg/m. Use it for stands, small frames, guards, sensor and panel supports and lab installations. Order it as a 3000 mm bar or cut to length and connect it with brackets, nuts and connectors from the 6 mm series.
Why choose it
Four usable sides
One 6 mm slot on each side: fix panels, brackets and accessories wherever you need them, even after assembly.
Lightweight
0.4 kg/m: a 3000 mm bar weighs about 1.2 kg. Suitable for structures moved by hand.
Simple connections
Bracket 20x20 with M4 screws tightened to 3 N·m, M4 T-nut or M4 and M5 sliding block.
Cut to your dimensions
Delivered as a bar or cut to length from 50 mm upwards, ready to assemble.
Choose it if…
- You build light structures: stands, guards, small frames, sensor and panel supports.
- You need a slot on all four sides.
- You want a compact profile, only 20 mm wide.
- Spans are short and loads moderate.
Choose another solution if…
- You need more rigidity in one direction, with the same slot: Aluminium strut profile 20x40 →
- The structure carries medium loads, such as trolleys or partition walls: Aluminium strut profile 30x30 →
- You want smooth sides, with only two slots: on request

How to assemble
Three things to know about the 20x20:
Central bore
The Ø 5.5 mm bore at the end takes an M6 thread or the S6x16 self-tapping central bolt for end connections.
Lengths
3000 mm bar or cuts from 50 mm. With an M6 thread at both ends the minimum piece is 70 mm.
Series 6 nuts
M4 T-nut (1700 N) or M4 and M5 sliding block (3000 N).
Send us the parts list: we check that nuts, screws and brackets all belong to the 6 mm series.

Cutting to length
We cut the profiles in our workshop to the lengths in your parts list.
Parts list check
We start from your parts list or a sketch and check codes and quantities of profiles, brackets, nuts and cover caps.
Ready-to-assemble kits
You receive cut profiles and small parts grouped by structure, with the list of components.
Spare parts and modifications
When the structure changes we supply new cuts and the components to extend it.

The standard has one slot on each side. The 3N has three and the 2N two on adjacent sides: the closed sides are smooth, easier to clean, and the profile resists torsion better. The 20x20 R has one rounded edge and two slots, for visible edges without sharp corners. All use the same 6 mm nuts.
On 20 series profiles with slot C6, for example the 20x20: both wings are 20 mm. You can also fix it to a solid panel element.
The bracket 20x20 for 6 mm slot: it is fixed with two M4x8 screws and nuts, tightened to 3 N·m, and holds 700 N. Available with screws and nuts included or without, if you already have the small parts.
The M4 T-nut, zinc-plated or stainless steel, which holds 1700 N, and the M4 or M5 sliding block, which holds up to 3000 N. To keep the sliding block in position during assembly there is a dedicated spring for the 6 mm slot.
It is the stainless steel hinge for 20 series profiles with slot C6: it holds 300 N, is tightened to 2.5 N·m and comes with M4x6 screws. Suitable for small doors and hatches.
It depends on span, supports and joints. The 20x20 has a moment of inertia of 0.7 cm⁴, compared with 2.8 cm⁴ for the 30x30 and 4.6 cm⁴ for the 20x40 mounted upright: it suits light structures and short spans. For long crossbars or concentrated loads choose a taller profile.
Yes, using the Ø 5.5 mm central bore: it takes an M6 thread or the S6x16 self-tapping central bolt. This requires profile machining, to be specified in the parts list. With an M6 thread at both ends the piece must be at least 70 mm long.
It is the width of the profile slot and determines which accessories you use. Slot C6 (6 mm) is for 20 series profiles, C8 (8 mm) for the 30 series, C10 (10 mm) for profiles from the 40 series upwards. Nuts, screws, brackets and cover caps are chosen by slot: each accessory's product page shows the right one.
Yes. You can order the full bar or the piece cut to the length you need: we do the cutting ourselves, in our workshop. Each profile's product page shows the maximum bar length and the minimum cut length.
Look at the moments of inertia Ix and Iy: the higher they are, the less the profile deflects under load. For the same section, “L” profiles are lightened and deflect a little more. For long spans or high loads move to a larger section or a tall profile (e.g. 45x90 instead of 45x45). If you send us drawing and loads, we will check the choice.
The T-nut is inserted from the front into the slot, even in an assembled structure, and positions itself when you tighten the screw: it is the standard choice for fixing accessories. The sliding block withstands higher forces, but normally has to be inserted from the profile end before closing the frame; spring versions stay where you put them.
The simplest way is the bracket, which joins two profiles at 90° with screws and nuts in the slot, without machining. For end, T, 45° or three-way connections there are dedicated connectors, some of which require profile machining as stated on their product page.
Yes, for several accessories (for example cover caps, hinges and nuts) there are conductive ESD versions, indicated in the name or variant. Tell us which EPA area you work in and we will confirm the components to use.
On each product page you will find the MGE catalogue pages to download as PDF, with dimensioned drawings and technical data; the Specifications tab shows the data for the variant you have chosen.
