Aluminium strut profile 30x30 – slotted profile with 8 mm slot
The 30x30 is the basic profile of the 8 mm slot series: one slot per side, Ø 7.3 mm central bore and 0.9 kg/m. It is the size for medium loads, such as material trolleys, light fit-outs, support frames and partition walls. Order it as a 6070 mm bar or cut to length and connect it with brackets, connectors and nuts from the 8 mm series.
Why choose it
The most versatile of the 8 series
Slot on four sides and a full range of 30x30 brackets, T-connectors, cubic connectors, hinges and swivel joints.
Balanced rigidity and weight
Four times the moment of inertia of the 20x20 (2.8 vs 0.7 cm⁴) at 0.9 kg/m.
Strong joints
The bracket 30x30 is tightened to 10 N·m with M6 screws and holds 1250 N; the T-connector reaches 4000 N.
Long bar or cut to length
6070 mm bar for long spans, 2000 mm piece or cuts to length from 50 mm.
Choose it if…
- You build trolleys, partition walls, support frames or light workstations.
- You need a slot on all four sides.
- You want to use 30x30 T-connectors, cubic connectors, hinges and swivel joints.
- The 20x20 is too flexible for your spans.
Choose another solution if…
- You need a stiffer crossbar in the same series: Aluminium strut profile 30x60 →
- The structure is light and you want minimum footprint: Aluminium strut profile 20x20 →
- You want smooth sides, with only one slot: on request

How to assemble
Three things to know about the 30x30:
Central bore Ø 7.3
It takes an M8 thread or the S8x25 self-tapping central bolt for end connections.
Lengths
6070 mm bar or cuts from 50 mm. With an M8 thread at both ends the minimum piece is 80 mm.
Series 8 nuts
M4, M5 or M6 T-nut (4000 N with M6) or sliding block up to M8 (6000 N).

The number shows how many slots remain open. The standard has four, the 3N three, the 2N two on adjacent sides, the 2NVS two on opposite sides and the 1N only one. Closed sides are smooth, easier to clean, and make the profile stiffer in torsion: It rises from 0.29 cm⁴ for the standard to 2.80 cm⁴ for the 1N. Nuts, brackets and cover caps remain those of the 30x30.
On 30 mm profiles with slot C8, such as the 30x30: all three wings are 30 mm. For 45 mm profiles use the double hinge C10.
The bracket 30x30 for 8 mm slot: two M6x14 screws with nut, tightening torque 10 N·m, holds 1250 N. There is also the 8/10 version to join a 30x30 to a profile with 10 mm slot. The cover cap for bracket 30x30 fits on top.
The standard 30x30 has a slot on each side and sharp edges; the 30x30 R has two slots and a rounded outer edge. It is slightly less stiff (2.3 cm⁴ versus 2.8 cm⁴) but resists torsion better (It 0.81 versus 0.29 cm⁴).
The bracket is mounted on the outside, without machining the profiles. The T-connector 30x30 stays hidden inside the joint and holds 4000 N, but requires an M8 thread in the central bore of the profile that butts against the other.
Sì. Il passo delle cave è lo stesso, 30 mm: le cave del 60x60 8N sono allineate a quelle di un 30x30 o di un 30x60 montato accanto, e i nodi si fanno con gli stessi accessori per cava C8.
The M4, M5 or M6 T-nut, zinc-plated or stainless steel: it can be inserted even after assembly and with M6 holds 4000 N. For higher loads there is the sliding block from M4 to M8, up to 6000 N; the 1000 mm sliding block profile is used to make custom fastening elements.
With the profile connector C8, 50 or 180 mm long: it is inserted into the slots of both profiles and fixed with M6 screws, without machining the profiles. For a more stable connection put a connector in each slot.
It depends on span, supports and joints. The 30x30 has Ix = Iy = 2.8 cm⁴, four times the 20x20; the 30x60 upright reaches 19.6 cm⁴. If a crossbar is long or carries a concentrated load, move to the 30x60 and keep the uprights in 30x30.
The 2000 mm piece is handy for small structures and repairs; the 6070 mm bar reduces offcuts when you have many crossbars or long spans. Send us the cutting list and we will tell you which is better.
It is the width of the profile slot and determines which accessories you use. Slot C6 (6 mm) is for 20 series profiles, C8 (8 mm) for the 30 series, C10 (10 mm) for profiles from the 40 series upwards. Nuts, screws, brackets and cover caps are chosen by slot: each accessory's product page shows the right one.
Yes. You can order the full bar or the piece cut to the length you need: we do the cutting ourselves, in our workshop. Each profile's product page shows the maximum bar length and the minimum cut length.
Look at the moments of inertia Ix and Iy: the higher they are, the less the profile deflects under load. For the same section, “L” profiles are lightened and deflect a little more. For long spans or high loads move to a larger section or a tall profile (e.g. 45x90 instead of 45x45). If you send us drawing and loads, we will check the choice.
The T-nut is inserted from the front into the slot, even in an assembled structure, and positions itself when you tighten the screw: it is the standard choice for fixing accessories. The sliding block withstands higher forces, but normally has to be inserted from the profile end before closing the frame; spring versions stay where you put them.
The simplest way is the bracket, which joins two profiles at 90° with screws and nuts in the slot, without machining. For end, T, 45° or three-way connections there are dedicated connectors, some of which require profile machining as stated on their product page.
Yes, for several accessories (for example cover caps, hinges and nuts) there are conductive ESD versions, indicated in the name or variant. Tell us which EPA area you work in and we will confirm the components to use.
On each product page you will find the MGE catalogue pages to download as PDF, with dimensioned drawings and technical data; the Specifications tab shows the data for the variant you have chosen.
